Evening Lecture with R. Gregory Christie on June 15. R. Gregory Christie is an award-winning children’s book illustrator and lecturer with a long track record of creating inspiring art. He is an NAACP Image award winner and was the artist for the United Postal Service’s “Kwanzaa Stamp” in 2013. He has done everything from designing John Coltrane album covers to animating films on Netflix.

Presented by the Booth Writers Guild, the Distinguished Songwriter Series is a quarterly program hosted by singer-songwriter Scott Thompson that brings top Nashville songwriters to talk about their writing process and current projects. They will also sing songs they wrote that helped make people like Gary Morris, Diamond Rio, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks and Chris Young famous, as well as their favorite songs they’ve written but have not been recorded yet.

Evening Lecture with artist Jim Vogel on May 18. Vogel is known for his paintings depicting New Mexican landscapes and rural life. He often uses architectural frames around his paintings and exaggerated features in them, his work can be found on display in the Booth’s permanent collection. Evening Lecture with artists Jane Hunt and Michele Usibelli. Hunt’s award-winning paintings have been exhibited at notable galleries and museums internationally. Now based in Colorado, she frequently paints plein air and continues to be awed by the beauty surrounding her. Working primarily in oils, Michele Usibelli is an award-winning artist who also enjoys acrylics, gouache and pastels. Her work has been shown in both group and solo gallery exhibitions as well as regional, national and international juried exhibitions. This program on “Billy the Kid” is also a book launch celebration for Mark Warren’s newest book, A Last Serenade for Billy Bonney. Phil Epp, from Newton, Kansas is a member of The Cowboy Artists of America and is known for having the most contemporary style among the group. He recently won best of show at the 2022 CAA exhibition. He discusses his art career and unveil one of his newest paintings, recently acquired by the Booth Museum.
