Sensory Friendly Morning

Galleries, Borderlands, Member’s Lounge

Audiences with sensory processing skills are invited to enjoy the Booth in a comfortable and welcoming environment! Visual schedules, a sensory friendly map and social stories are available for download on our website under Plan Your Visit (also available onsite). Sensory bags will be available to check out and a family quiet space will be available for anyone who needs to catch their breath. Registration is preferred. This event is free of charge

Home School Day- STEAM (Science Technology ART Engineering and Mathematics)

Friday, September 9, 2022, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Ages: 5-12 years
Cost: $7.00 per participant; $7.00 per adult

*siblings that do not fall within this age range are welcome to visit Sagebrush Ranch during the program
*siblings under 5 years old not participating in the program are FREE

Registration deadline: September 5 Join us for our annual fall Home School Day! STEAM is the focus as participants learn about technology through the Booth’s collection.  Participants will build a pinwheel and learn about windmill design, mini stagecoach, and telegraph key. Decipher a top-secret message (+ more)! This program is presented in collaboration with Bartow History Museum.

What’s Your Spirit Animal?
September 2, 2022
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Draw your favorite animal face and make a colorful print design inspired by the totem pole that was hand-carved and hand-painted by Eli George, Joe Gosnell, and Sam McMillan, and is currently installed on the lawn of the Booth Museum.

Cost: $10 for Museum members, $12 for not-yet Members

All supplies included

Minimum 10 students / Maximum 20 students

Drawing with Wire
October 7, 2022
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

After visiting artist Eric Strauss’ metal horse sculpture inside the Museum, you’ll bend, loop, and twist multi-colored pipe cleaners to create the unique lines of a whimsical wire horse sculpture.   

Cost: $10 for Museum members, $12 for not-yet Members

Paper Cut Feathers
November 4, 2022
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Assemble cut-paper shapes to create a medicine wheel and feathers inspired by the cast paper works of Allen and Patty Eckman, artists whose work you can see in the Booth Museum’s permanent collection.

Cost: $10 for Museum members, $12 for not-yet Members

Color & Line Scratchboard
December 2, 2022
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Use wooden sticks to draw and discover unexpected colors on scratchboard. Create animals and landscapes as you take inspiration from Booth Museum artists Rebecca, Gene,  and Joshua Tobey.
