November 9, 2021 – January 2, 2022

Members and guests are invited to view the 18th Annual Kids Cowboy Up exhibition featuring artwork by members of the Boys & Girls Club of Bartow County and the Hands of Christ After School Program. Opening reception is on Thursday, November 18. Refreshments will be served in Borderlands Meeting Room from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Click here to view artwork.

October 21, 2021 – February 27, 2022

Artist M.C. Poulsen has embarked on a multiyear journey to hike and ride horseback into the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park and capture the waterfalls that the general public never gets to experience. “Painting the Falls of Yellowstone” a PBS Documentary that aired on June 2017 highlights this journey that parallels the early artists Moran and Bierstadt who captured the mystique that draws the public to Yellowstone today. Poulsen doesn’t want these cosmic beauties to remain hidden in the backcountry; he wants to share them with the human race, so they, too, are flooded with the same emotions he experienced click here to view a tour through the exhibit. As a companion to the above we are bringing in Nancy Cawdrey’s collection of approximately 25 silk paintings of all the major animals in Glacier National Park. September 11, 2021 – January 2, 2022

Artist Tucker Smith is nationally renowned for his balanced, subtle paintings inspired by the wildlife and mountain atmosphere that has been such an integral part of his life. His home and studio on the Hoback Rim in Western Wyoming offer easy access to his favorite subjects; vast landscapes, sprawling cattle ranches, and the back country with its abundant wildlife and natural, beauty. Tucker said, “I believe it is necessary to experience nature first hand in order to be able to convey it to someone else through a painting.” Click here to take a 3D tour of the exhibit.

July 31, 2021 – January 23, 2022

Born in southern Africa, Graham Hobart takes on the American West through his extraordinary black and white infrared photography. In 2014 upon seeing Hobart’s photographs of African animals and landscapes, Booth Western Art Museum Executive Director Seth Hopkins commissioned a photograph from Hobart and dared him to “go out and capture the American West in his unique illustrative style as he had in Africa.” This exhibition is Hobart’s response to that call and features over a decade of his work in the American West and Africa. May 16 – September 26, 2021

Ross Rossin grew up watching Western movies. This would not seem unusual, except that was in Bulgaria. Drawing on those memories, he has always wanted to visit Monument Valley. Following a 9-day road trip through the Southwest in 2019 with Booth Executive Director, Seth Hopkins, Rossin was inspired to create a series of paintings. Featuring portraits of people they met and depictions of the lands they encountered the show confirms the American West still has the power to inspire both Americans and those from around the globe.
