Participants will use a variety of media to create a unique textured work. A layered combination of techniques (watercolor resists, paint application and texture plates) will come together to create the artworks’ focal point. Amy Wilmoth Watts work, Past History will inspire students for this project. Registration required.

Home School Day – Gold Rush!
September 18, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Grab your pickaxes and dust off your boots—it’s time to travel back to the wild days of the Gold Rush! Join the Booth Museum and Bartow History Museum for an exciting day filled with hands-on adventure while learning all about the Georgia and California Gold Rush. Traverse an obstacle course, pan for gold, build a stagecoach, and strike it rich with fun!

TEEN Home School Friday- Assemblage Art
September 26,1:00 – 3:00 PM
Repurpose a variety of everyday household objects to create a new and original work of art. Take inspiration from our Booth artists that use found objects as media. We will look at ways to assemble or connect discarded tape rolls, old pens, plastic forks and more to a flat surface using glue and colorful paint. Everything that’s old is new again!

Friday, October 3, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Explore complementary colors in a unique way. Participants will use a variety of media to create a 2-D work with a pop-out element. Booth artist Larry Pirnie’s work titled Wild Horse Quarter will serve as inspiration for this eye-catching mixed media piece.

Home School Friday: A Colorful Profile
Friday, November 7, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
This project challenges participants to think abstractly. George Goga’s work entitled When Pablo Visited Harold and Got in Trouble, will serve as inspiration for this unique portrait. Students will serve as models for each other as they learn about profile drawing while exploring bold colors and shapes created from oil pastels.

Use organic lines to define simple shapes. You can take inspiration from work throughout the Booth collection. Add some color that gives punch to this design. Pull it all together using pattern and a cut silhouette to communicate your unique idea!

Home School Friday- Tear, Paste and Paint
Friday, December 5, 1:00 – 2:30 PM
Draw inspiration from Carrie Penley’s work entitled Return to the Wild to create a unique mixed media artwork. Participants will tear and arrange papers to build a collage, then paint an image on top. The layered collage surface creates a unique effect with the paint resulting in a fun mixed media work featuring a western animal.
