Stencil Printmaking

Participants will take inspiration from the work of Andy Warhol in the Booth Museum Permanent Collection. Experiment and draw simple shapes to cut out and use with a unique print design. Use bold colors to emphasize your artistic vision!

Home School Friday – Sculpt and Splatter

February 7, 2025, 1:00 – 2:30

Take this little fella home with you! Join us to create a unique animal sculpture based on Harry Jackson’s Cosmos. In this class, participants will hone their sculpting skills and explore texture with air dry clay. A splash of color is then added using a paint splatter technique inspired by artist Jackson Pollock.

President’s Day: Presidential Pastimes

February 17, 2025, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Do you have a favorite hobby? Join the Booth Museum and Bartow History Museum for a day of hands-on activities as we explore presidential pastimes. Art activities and interactives (bowling, anyone?) throughout the galleries at both museums promise a day of fun for the whole family!

Home School Friday – Texture and Pattern

March 7, 2025, 1:00 – 2:30

Cut and arrange a variety of fabrics to create the illusion of texture on a bison. Explore color and shape with a vibrant background and a one-of-a-kind border designed by you! Participants will take inspiration from Carol Hagen’s painting Red Head to create this unique collage to take home.

TEEN Home School Friday: Understanding Space

March 21, 2025, 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Construct and paint your very own majestic 3-D environment. Participants will explore form or shape to create a foreground, middle ground and background creating a layered landscape to take home. A number of Western landscapes from the Booth Permanent Collection will be the inspiration for this project!

Home School Friday: Warm & Cool Colors

May 2, 2025, 1:00 – 2:30

Participants will use warm and cool colors to create a one-of-a-kind painting with an animal of their choice.
Booth artist Fritz Scholder’s piece, Blue Eagle, will serve as inspiration for this work on canvas.

TEEN Home School Friday: Over and Under!
May 9, 2025, 1:00 – 3:00 pm

Be inspired by the tradition behind textiles on display in the Booth artifacts collection. Weave beautiful strips of printed fabric on a portable loom, using an over and under pattern.

You may decide to add on colorful yarn or beads to build different textures. Tie the yarns together and what do you have? A one-of-a-kind textile design to keep or share with friends!
