Draw inspiration from B.C. Nowlin’s All We Are to create your own original artwork. Begin by exploring a mix of painting techniques to produce a background with a limited color palette. Then, learn about silhouettes and arrange them on your painted surface to bring your composition to life. Registration required.

Home School Day
America 250: Then and Now
September 17, 2026

Join us for an engaging fall home school day as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary at the Booth Museum and Bartow History Museum! Participants will explore America’s past and present through art and artifacts from the museum collections. Enjoy hands-on activities, including art-making and a themed scavenger hunt, designed for family fun and learning. All students take home a prize! Registration required. Registration deadline September 15.

TEEN Home School Friday: Color, Movement and Shadow
Friday, September 25, 2026 1-3 pm
Paint and cut organic shapes made from an unexpected surface to achieve the look of transparent glass. Be inspired by Booth Museum artist Veloy Vigil as we use these materials to create a 3-D vertical sculpture that shows overlapping color, twisting movement of form and interesting shadow effects with a light source. Registration required.

Home School Friday: Animals and Gradients
Friday, October 2, 2026 1-2:30 pm
Get inspired by Booth artist Rebecca Tobey’s Sky Shaman! Play around with warm and cool colors. Learn how to create a smooth gradient, then make your own stamp to add extra flair to your animal. Finally, mix and match your animal with colorful paper scraps to build a one-of-a-kind composition. Registration required.

Get in the mindset of a bird in flight to create an aerial sculpture. Draw inspiration from Booth artists Arturo Chávez and Shonto Begay. Use a combination of unexpected media to compose a landscape that depicts a bird’s eye view. Registration required.

Use unexpected materials and paint to create a textured background for chalk pastel. Take inspiration from Booth artists Jane Hunt and Felice House as we explore the effects of color and simple shapes in nature – big sky, clouds and land forms. Look at ways to create a sense of mood and atmosphere that celebrates your personal style.

Homeschool Friday: Pastel, Stamps and Paint
Friday, December 4, 2026
1:00 – 2:30 PM
Use multiple art supplies to create a layered effect inspired by Ted Waddell’s, Ruby Valley Angus. Participants will apply watercolor paint across the surface then layer oil pastel on top to mimic a raised texture. Create a stamp of an animal that can be used multiple times to show a herd across the composition.
