September 12, 2024, 10 am – 2 pm
Join the Bartow History Museum and Booth Museum to explore family traditions in art!
Take a family-friendly gallery tour of The Folwell Family: 5 Generations of Potters, paint mini terra cotta pots, get hands-on with a leather-inspired craft, practice your weaving skills to create a hanging art piece, learn about Gordy pottery and make a mini pinch pot, create a nature-inspired bracelet, explore yarn painting from Mexico, and more! A scavenger hunt and prizes are sure to inspire all on this journey through two museums.
Registration required.
Ages: 4-17 years
Cost: $6 per student; $5 per parent

TEEN Home School Friday: Shape and Line Make Unique Design

Shape and Line make Unique Design
Take inspiration from Booth artist Amy Watts as we draw a fun design that emphasizes shape and line. Use oil pastels to add bold color, and define patterns with shape. Blend, smudge or scratch into colors to make unexpected textures and reveal an eye-catching work of art!

Home School Friday: Paint, Cut, Collage!
October 4, 2024, 1:00 – 2:30 pm
Paint bold colors on paper to make a simple landscape inspired by Booth Artist Claudia Hartley. Experiment with a variety of tools to create patterns, and interesting textures that can be transformed into land, sky and mountains.

Animal Connections
Which two animals would you draw and paint together? Booth artist Amy Lay loves to combine big, and small creatures like bears with ravens. Take inspiration from this idea as we use charcoal, and paint to illustrate how different animals might share a connection in nature.

Home School Friday – Bronze Inspired Raised Relief
December 6, 2024, 1:00-2:30
How can we create a raised form on a flat 2-D surface? Use simple shapes of cardboard to build up raised areas that sit higher on a square surface. Take inspiration from Booth Museum sculpture then use a mixture of media to make a unique pattern, or tell a story. It’s up to you!

TEEN Home School Friday: Over and Under!
December 20, 2024, 1:00 – 3:30 PM
Over and Under!
Be inspired by the tradition behind textiles on display in the Booth Artifacts Collection. Weave beautiful strips of printed fabric on a portable loom, using an over and under pattern. You may decide to add on colorful yarn or beads to build different textures. Tie the yarns together and what do you have? A one-of-a-kind textile design to keep or share with friends!
