3-Day Workshop with Christine Lashley / “Luminous Landscapes”

Create art filled with light! Christine is well know for her striking paintings that often include night lights and city scenes, however, the principles taught in this workshop apply to daytime scenes as well with glittering water and atmospheric luminosity. In this workshop students will learn to create a strong composition plus explore the creativity of abstraction and loose brushwork. At least one demo will be an urban street scene with figures and buildings. Tips for easy perspective, landscape layer techniques, and exercises to promote better design will give students creative freedom to transform a ho-hum scene into something special.
Christine teaches a flexible to creating art with special techniques for achieving loose brushwork and clean colors. Daily demos in oil with some thumbnail sketch demos in watercolor. Students will learn how to apply wet layers and non-toxic (solvent-free) way to use oil paints. Workshop includes demos, lectures and one-on-one instruction. This workshop is geared to oil painters, but students may work in any media and do not need both oil and watercolor to participate. Oil painters please note that this workshop will be run SOLVENT-FREE. No Gamesol, Turpenoid, Spike Lavender oil, etc. will be used. Christine will teach you how to paint without solvent. This workshop is for all levels, however students should have some familiarity with media of choice.
