3-Day Pastel Portrait Workshop with Artist Christine Swann / “The Power of Pastel”

Artists will build a portrait from start to finish over 3 days using a step-by-step, five-layer process in the pastel medium while focusing on understanding the physics of light. Learning the “Thirds of the Head” methodology will let any artist become more accurate in obtaining a likeness whether working from photos or from a model. The class will emphasize that following the Law of Light and its rules dictate how value and color are related when constructing the complex topography of the head. Academic lessons on the structure of the head will also be covered along the way. Students can work from the instructors’ references or from their own reference. All levels welcome.
Minimum of 8 students, Maximum of 16 students
