3-Day Oil-Studion Workshop with Chris Groves / “Painting the Sunrise and Sunset – From Classical to Contemporary”

9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
This class will merge both Classical and Contemporary methods in the painting of a Sunrise or Sunset. Beginning with a lecture on color theory in order to select an intentional palette, to a discussion on design and composition to create specific emotion and mood. Understanding how to convert incorrect colors from a photograph to Mark-making and Movement Styles such as Tonalism, Impressionism, and Abstraction, will be heavily discussed and demoed as a way for each student to find his/her chosen process and path to painting this time of day. A small, medium, and larger size painting with be demoed throughout the 3 days. Please bring your own print out or digital image reference materials to paint from. All levels welcome.
Minimum of 10 students, Maximum of 16 students
