3-Day Workshop with Artist Paul Batch / “Designing Atmosphere: Painting Light, Depth, and Mood”
Wednesday, April 28 – Friday, April 30, 2027
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
This three-day workshop focuses on building strong, atmospheric landscape paintings through clear design and simplified structure. We’ll work from reference photos to develop paintings that emphasize light, depth, and mood rather than detail. The focus will be on seeing and organizing big shapes, establishing a strong value structure, and using color temperature to create space and atmosphere. I’ll demonstrate my process step by step, talking through decisions as the painting develops, and students will have time to work with individual feedback throughout. This workshop is well suited for painters looking to simplify their approach, strengthen their compositions, and create more convincing light and atmosphere in their work.
Minimum of 8 students, Maximum of 16 students
FEE: $500.00 for Booth Museum Members, $575.00 for not-yet-members
