Evening Lecture with Artist Dan Young

August 26, 2021, 7:00 pm

Join us for an evening with Colorado landscape painter and member of Plein Air Painters of America Dan Young in Booth’s Bergman Theatre or on Facebook Live. Dan Young was born in Denver, and grew up in Western Colorado. He attended Colorado Institute of Art, hoping to find a direction in art. After graduation, he moved to Dallas to pursue the commercial art field. Even with a successful Illustration career, the landscape was always calling him back. In 1989, he returned to Colorado to begin painting full time. Young enjoys painting the rural life of the West, the ranches that dot the mountain valleys and river bottoms. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Young’s inspiring story.

Virtual Lecture with Artist Ross Rossin

August 12, 2021 7:00 pm

Join Seth Hopkins and Rossin for a virtual lecture through Rossin’s Southwest and BEYOND on Booth’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Hear about Rossin growing up watching Western movies in Bulgaria and dreaming of visiting Monument Valley.  Following the 9-day road trip through the Southwest in 2019, Rossin was inspired to create the paintings in the exhibition, featuring portraits of people he met and depictions of the lands encountered. The show confirms the American West still has the power to inspire both Americans and those from around the globe.

Art for Lunch with author Mark Warren

August 4, 2021, 12:15 pm

This program reveals how the land of Southern Appalachia dictated the culture of the Cherokees. The daily life of this tribe was guided by an intimacy and reverence for nature that our present white culture has not tried to emulate. The result of this oversight is revealed in our lack of understanding about the forest and in the careless treatment of the environment. Learn about Cherokee crafts, weapons, hunting techniques, philosophies, religion, clothing, tools, foods, medicines, and games.
