5-Day Still-Life Workshop with Stephanie Birdsall / “Keeping It Real”
Painting from life is an exciting way to learn! This intense but fun class will focus on how the light changes and how to cope with it: the expression of your brush strokes and how to observe actual color and mix it to achieve another level of painting. Brushstrokes not only define form but lead your eye through your painting. You will learn spatial awareness, developing a sense of depth and recognizing edges and comparing values. It’s an opportunity to understand how light and shadow define form. And all this plays to creating a strong composition. Being physically present with the subject can create a deeper emotional connection, which can be conveyed in your painting. Are you excited about your subject and does it show? It’s an “everything” workshop. Whether you work from photos or love plein air, this will enhance the way you perceive your subjects and bring more depth to your paintings. Subject matter will be still-life and whatever is in-season. Oil painters and pastellists welcome. Only Gamsol in the studio.
