3-Day Workshop with Artist Christine Lashley / “Dynamic Landscapes – Water Reflections”

Understand the visual language of water and learn how to create reflections, submerged rocks and glistening highlights. Lectures cover strong fundamentals of painting and simple tools to break down the complexity of water. Christine teaches a flexible approach to creating art with special techniques for achieving loose brushwork and clean colors. Daily demos in oil with some thumbnail sketch demos in watercolor. Students will learn how to apply wet layers and non-toxic (solvent-free) ways to use oil paints. Workshop includes hand-outs, one-on-one instruction, and painting/sketching on location (weather permitting). Studio time will finish the workshop with special attention to interpreting a scene vs. just ‘making a copy’. This workshop is geared to oil painters, but students may work in any media and do not need both oil and watercolor to participate. Oil painters please note that this workshop will be run SOLVENT-FREE. No Gamsol, Turpenoid, Spike Lavender oil, etc. will be used. Christine will teach you how to paint without solvent.  Note:  This workshop is for all levels, however students should have familiarity with equipment and media of choice.
