3-Day Painting Workshop with Susan Patton / “Figures From Life: Sargent Inspired Dresses”

Costume and pose were important to John Singer Sargent. In this workshop, live models will pose in Sargent-inspired dresses. The instruction will be on how Sargent painted, gleaned from Sargent’s notes. Students will learn how to create gesture and pose, capture how the light falls on fabric and flesh, and attempt sweeping brushstrokes of color to create the form of a costumed figure on large canvases.
Minimum of 8 students, Maximum of 16 students
