Thursday, October 23 – Saturday, October 25, 2025
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
In this 3-day workshop, students will create a finished portrait drawing from life. Emphasis will be placed on value control and edges by focusing on deliberate pencil pressure and maintaining accurate mass relationships rather than rendering. The application of hatched directional marks creates form and energy. Students will use the method of relative sizing to transcribe the portrait to their paper. Class discussions will include how to accurately judge values, edges, and forms while working from life. This workshop aims to guide students toward creating a drawing from life using traditional drawing techniques. David and Shana will demo from the model for the first three hours of class and the students will work the second three hours of class with guided instruction.
Minimum of 12 students, Maximum of 16 students
FEE: $650.00 for Booth Museum Members, $725.00 for not-yet-members
