3-Day Oil Workshop with Artist Patrick Saunders / “Capturing Character – Painting Dynamic Animal Portraits”

Learn to paint dynamic animal portraits, capturing a likeness as rapidly as possible. This 3-day workshop will focus on the accuracy of drawing, values, edges, texture, and color. Learn to paint alla prima, with dynamic brushwork and texture, achieving not only a likeness, but energetic and engaging paintings. We will focus on quick starts and a less is more approach. Learn what factors contribute to a likeness vs. unnecessary details that can contribute to an overworked, lifeless painting. All levels welcome, even if you’ve never painted animals before. Patrick’s simple steps for evaluating your paintings in progress will improve not only your skills as a painter, but your painting abilities in general.
Minimum of 8 students, Maximum of 18 students
