3-Day Workshop with Jackie Jones / “Painting Foundations – From Beginner to Intermediate”
Monday, November 17 – Wednesday, November 19, 2025
9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
This workshop will give you a strong foundation for any genre of painting from landscape to still-life to figurative. Using geometric shapes in still-life set-ups students will learn (or refresh their skills) in: drawing, perspective, value, composition, depth of field, and paint application. These shapes are found in the landscape, i.e. a cone may represent a spruce tree, the cylinder a tree trunk, a half sphere the bouquet of treetops and the cube a rough hewn rock. Like puzzle pieces, the halftones, cast shadows and reflected lights are key players that link the shade and light families. Aerial perspective is gained with overlap, size/scale change, value, and edges. Color theory, color mixing, and composition will round out the class giving you a solid foundation and strengthening your skills as we create a painting. Acrylics and water-soluble oils are welcome.
Minimum of 10 students, Maximum of 16 students
FEE: $450.00 for Booth Museum Members, $525.00 for not-yet-members
