3-Day Sculpture Workshop with Artist Sandy Scott / “Bird Sculpture and Comparative Anatomy”
The class begins with a discussion about birds anatomy, the principles of aerodynamics, and how to create the illusion of movement of birds in flight. All aspects of armature building and modeling in oil based clay will be explored. The importance of understanding comparative anatomy of vertebrates including quadrupeds will be emphasized. Above all, creating art is the focus including assembling reference material. Students will work from field guides, drawings, and internet imagery. Beginners are welcome. Scott has taught bird sculpture for over 35 years and is a fellow in the National Sculpture Society. She is recognized as one of America’s leading animal sculptors.
