1-Day Intro to Woodturning Workshop with Artist Nick Cook

Join us for this unique hands-on opportunity and learn the basics of woodturning. Spindle Turning: We will start with an introduction to the lathe, turning tools, and safety. We will discuss materials for spindle projects and preparation of stock for turning. I will demonstrate how to rough out a spindle and make beads and coves using basic spindle turning tools. I will turn a honey dipper and a snowman Christmas ornament. Faceplate Turning: We will discuss the deep fluted bowl gouge, faceplates and chucks along with wood selection, grain orientation and chucking methods. I will demonstrate how to turn a simple bowl and shallow plate. All supplies included. Students will create their own projects during the workshop.
Minimum of 5 students, Maximum of 8 students
