3-Day Adult Workshop with Artist Chris Groves – Skyscapes Over Landscapes

We will cover how to convincingly paint a variety of types of clouds, from drawing to paint application, working with simple value, limited temperature, and edges to form clouds of all sizes and shapes. We will also cover how to form strong compositions with your clouds over different types of landscapes (buildings, marsh, seascapes, etc.), and how to tie them together to finish your paintings. Past and present artists will be covered by use of slides and books throughout the 3 days; along with demos, class discussions, and one-on-one critiques. Students will bring their own reference materials. We will use our color studies, created in class, to use with these reference materials.
