SUMMARY:BAA 3-Day Portrait Workshop with Artist Michelle Dunaway / "Painting the Long Pose Portrait with Hands"
DESCRIPTION:3-Day Portrait Workshop with Artist Michelle Dunaway / “Painting the Long Pose Portrait with Hands”\nTuesday\, June 30 – Thursday\, July 2\, 2026\n9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \nDuring this three day intensive workshop\, Michelle will lecture\, demonstrate her painting techniques\, and provide one-on-one instruction as students paint from life. Artists will create one painting over the three days from a live model. The model will be posed costumed and within a setting with elegantly posed hands to give a variety of compositional choices for each artist. This is Alla Prima painting 2.0! Michelle will discuss how to create a more finished and resolved work\, beyond a head study\, similar to her gallery paintings. Everything from composition and color mixing of skin tones to more advanced techniques such as color temperature (which gives the visual illusion of the subject receding or coming forward in space) will be thoroughly covered. The beautiful intricacies of edges and brushwork will also be a main focus as a way to lead the eye through the composition\, making punctuations in paint and resting spots for the eye. This tool can be observed in nature and portrayed in paint to evoke emotion and rhythms in the painting. Capturing a likeness\, painting hands\, and placing the sitter in an environment as a way to enhance the presence of the model will also be covered. Michelle will demonstrate in the morning\, creating her own painting over the 3 days\, as well as working one-on-one with each student in the afternoon to help them achieve their next level in painting and give students specific guidance to meet their individual artistic goals. \nFEE: $650 for Museum members / $725 for Non-members\nMinimum of 10 students / Maximum of 20 students \nTo learn more about the Booth Art Academy\, click HERE.

SUMMARY:BAA 3-Day Painting Workshop with TJ Cunningham / "Luminous Skies and Clouds: Painting Light\, Form & Atmosphere"
DESCRIPTION:3-Day Painting Workshop with TJ Cunningham / “Luminous Skies and Clouds: Painting Light\, Form & Atmosphere”\nThursday\, July 16 – Saturday\, July 18\, 2026\n9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \nThere’s nothing quite like painting the sky and in the three-day\, in-person workshop\, we’ll slow down and really learn how to see it like artists and paint it with confidence. You’ll explore how to build light and form into your skies\, how to use edges and color temperature to create atmosphere\, and how to simplify what you see without losing the beauty of it. Whether you’re painting cloud studies or skies within a larger landscape\, you’ll come away with practical tools and a clearer sense of what makes a sky painting work. I’ll walk you through my process step by step and you’ll have time to paint with plenty of individual help and feedback along the way. You’ll leave with multiple studies\, at least one more resolved piece\, and (hopefully!) a renewed excitement to paint the sky. Open to oil painters of all levels. \nMinimum of 8 students\, Maximum of 16 students.\nFEE: $600.00 for Booth Museum Members\, $675.00 for not-yet-members \nTo learn more about the Booth Art Academy\, CLICK HERE.

SUMMARY:BAA 4-Day Landscape Workshop with Bill Davidson / "Why Gorgeous GRAYS are the Secret for Greater\, Faster Growth: Unlock this Fun Way of Painting"
DESCRIPTION:4-Day Landscape Workshop with Bill Davidson / “Why Gorgeous GRAYS are the Secret for Greater\, Faster Growth: Unlock this Fun Way of Painting”\nThursday\, July 23 – Sunday\, July 26\, 2026\n9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \nWhy would you not want to grow faster using the Magic of Gorgeous GRAYS? In a newly revamped\, fun\, spirited\, non-judgmental way Bill will present how learning to use gorgeous grays is the magic to unlocking the truths of design\, values\, shapes\, and color harmony. The one common element that weaves through learning the elements of successful paintings in using the gorgeous grays to SEE better; the design\, shapes\, and values\, and then magically creating a color harmony with scintillating temperature shifts. Did you know buyers see design and shapes before color? Why are palettes in grays and why in art schools must students only work in grays for the first few years? Color hides the basic elements of a great painting\, yet harmonious color and temperature brings the sizzles. ONCE YOU LEARN TO SEE IN GORGEOUS GRAYS IT ALL COMES TOGETHER MUCH EASIER AND FASTER. As a recovering lawyer turned artist Bill has the ability to delightfully present and simplify in a fun way complex and obtuse art language. In addition as a constant researcher of the neuroscience of faster and better learning\, he will present mental neuroscience ideas that make it easier and faster for you to learn\, and enjoy the process more. His workshops are delightful experience. In addition he will teach his new ways of mixing color so values are dead-on in color\, the biggest issue for learning artists. It’s a confidence building super boost. \nMinimum of 8 students\, Maximum of 16 students\nFEE: $650.00 for Booth Museums Members\, $725.00 for not-yet-members. \nTo learn more about the Booth Art Academy\, CLICK HERE.
