DESCRIPTION:1-Day Watercolor Workshop with Artist Alan Shuptrine\nSaturday\, January 31\, 2026\n9:00 AM – 3:00 PM \nJoin artist Alan Shuptrine for a watercolor class focusing on the techniques and inspiration of American watercolorist\, Andrew Wyeth (1917 – 2009). As an artist\, Shuptrine is inspired by the word and techniques of artists Andrew Wyeth and his father\, Hubert Shuptrine (1936 – 2006)\, renowned watercolors. In 2010\, Shuptrine was invited to exhibit his watercolors at The Vero Beach Museum of Art. The exhibition was titled “In the Tradition of Wyeth: Contemporary Watercolor Masters” and Alan was honored to have his paintings displayed alongside these two renowned painters. For this workshop\, Alan is drawing on this inspiration and focusing on techniques favored by Wyeth including wet-in-wet washes\, drybrush\, and wet-on-dry techniques. Attendees will work on weathered farmhouses\, barns\, and grassy fields\, all frequent components of a Wyeth landscape. She believes evoking a feeling of light\, space\, and passion is key to any successful contemporary painting.  Get ready to learn technique and form that you can apply to all your paintings. \nMichelle will cover design\, composition\, values\, and EDGES to make a dramatic luminous bird paintings!  We will focus on accurate proportions\, form\, and surface planes. DESCRIPTION:Western American Art South of the Sweet Tea Line VII\nOn View: November 22\, 2025 – April 12\, 2026\nMember Opening: January 10\, 2026 \nFeaturing over 60 works of art gathered from across the South\, the Booth Western Art Museum is excited to welcome the next offering in its signature triennial exhibition series\, Western American Art South of the Sweet Tea Line VII. This upcoming version will feature new acquisitions to the Booth’s permanent collection and art given or loaned by Booth Members spread across the states of Georgia\, Florida\, Alabama and Tennessee. \nOccurring only every third year\, this interval provides the opportunity for the museum to become aware of new collectors and seek out new and interesting works from long time collectors that have recently been acquired or old favorites that have been in their collection for many years. Sweet Tea VII will feature approximately 40 paintings and 20 sculptures in both traditional and contemporary styles. Themes within the exhibition include landscapes; wildlife\, animals and birds; cowboys; and Native Americans. Some of the artists include Jason Rich\, Nancy Cawdrey\, Mark Maggiori\, Bonnie Marris\, Fred Fellows\, Sandy Graves and John Coleman. \nMembers are invited to join the Booth Museum on January 10\, 2026 for an exclusive Member Opening for Western American Art South of the Sweet Tea Line VII. Members have the option to register for a 4:00 PM gallery walk (Special Exhibition Gallery) first and reception at 5:00 PM (Eaton Atrium) or a 4:00 PM reception and 5:00 PM gallery walk. DESCRIPTION:January 7\, 2026\, 12:15 PM\, Miller/Rhoden Ballroom \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGeorgia artist Ann Litrel is joined by science writer Charles Seabrook with the AJC in this talk about the seven-year journey behind the Georgia Natural Wonders exhibit\, a selection of paintings from Litrel and Seabrook’s new book\, “35 Natural Wonders of Georgia to See before You Die.” The two co-authors share the story of their collaboration\, Seabrook telling the origins of his 2008 bucket list of the same name\, while Litrel dives into the adventures of painting and interpreting Georgia’s most spectacular nature destinations\, from the misty peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains to the alligator-filled waters of the Okefenokee Swamp. The co-authors will be available to sign their book at the event.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLunch will be available for $15.00 plus tax. Deadline to register for lunch is Noon\, January 6.
