SUMMARY:BAA 3-Day Acrylic Painting Workshop with Artist Marc Hanson / "Painting Landscapes in Acrylic for Oil Painters"
DESCRIPTION:3-Day Acrylic Painting Workshop with Artist Marc Hanson / “Painting Landscapes in Acrylic for Oil Painters”\nWednesday\, November 18 – Friday\, November 20\, 2026\n9:00 AM – 4:00 PM \nThis class is primarily for painters who want to try out acrylics as an alternative to oil paints. It would be most beneficial if you have painting experience in either oil or acrylic\, and are just looking for some guidance with the acrylic medium. If you’ve ever thought about working with acrylics as an alternative to oil paints\, this workshop will dive deep into how that might be an option for your work. After many years of painting with oil paints\, I have a few things to share about making acrylics part of your arsenal. I’ve battled acrylics\, experimented with them\, read about technique and materials\, practiced tirelessly\, been frustrated by them often\, and succeeded in conquering them once in a while\, over the last 10 years. I now use acrylics for about 90% of my work. In the workshop we will cover the paint\, mediums and supplies for both studio and plein air work\, the ‘whys’ and ‘why maybe nots’ of technique and methods for working with fast drying acrylics\, and how to adapt to that if you are used to painting taking forever to dry! Each morning will begin with a Q&A about anything acrylic\, followed by an instructional demo period\, and then a student work period in the afternoon. Students will work from their own photos and/or field studies on substrates that are up to 30″ maximum length or height. The supply list will go into more detail about what’s needed for the workshop. \nMinimum of 8 students\, Maximum of 16 students\nFEE: $550.00 for Booth Museum Members\, $625.00 for not-yet-members \nTo learn more about the Booth Art Academy\, CLICK HERE.
