SUMMARY:“Innovative Methods to Bring Richness and Life to Your Landscapes” Watercolor Workshop
DESCRIPTION:3-Day Watercolor Workshop with Artist Cindy Baron / “Innovative Methods to Bring Richness and Life to Your Landscapes” \nA different\, unique approach to creating watercolor paintings that sing.  I will show you how mixing layers of paint with a limited palette will hold their vibrancy\, harmonize\, and create an atmosphere that is exciting and complimentary to nature.  My watercolors are filled with richness and depth applied only by applications of washes of color that are transparent and opaque.  As a watercolorist and oil painter\, I am able to apply techniques from both to give my paintings a unique feel.  You will learn a different approach to mixing\, throwing color on paper\, and letting them mix to appear more natural to nature.  Step-by-step I will show you how my palette of colors\, techniques and lifting of pigment will develop into a painting with harmony and atmosphere.  I have a very unusual approach. I will share all my tools\, materials\, and knowledge. I will introduce gouache and show you how to bring an exciting\, spontaneous life to your paintings. With this class you will be given an insight into the capability of what watercolor paintings can achieve.  We will learn the importance of studies to help problem solve a composition\, the importance of subtle value changes to harmonize a painting\, and glazing techniques that unite a painting. \nTuesday – Thursday\, February 13-15\, 2024\n9:00 am –4:00 pm\nMinimum of 8 students\, Maximum of 12 students\nFEE:  $450.00 for Booth Museum Members\, $525.00 for not-yet-members \nRegistration coming soon!

SUMMARY:“Capturing the Essence” Portrait Workshop
DESCRIPTION:4-Day Portrait Workshop with Artist Michelle Dunaway / “Capturing the Essence” \nDuring this four day intensive workshop\, Michelle will lecture\, demonstrate her painting techniques\, and provide one-on-one instruction as students paint from life. The class will focus on Alla Prima painting\, covering everything from composition and color mixing of skin tones to more advanced techniques such as color temperature which gives the visual illusion of the subject receding or coming forward in space.  The beautiful intricacies of edges and brushwork will be a main focus as a way to lead the eye through the composition\, making punctuations in paint and resting spots for the eye. This tool can be observed in nature and portrayed in paint to evoke emotion and rhythms in the painting.  The class will do three paintings over the four days:  two head studies and a two-day pose that covers advanced techniques for capturing a likeness\, painting hands\,  and placing the sitter in an environment.  Michelle will also do a slideshow of her work\, including step-by-step photographs of her more elaborate finished studio work\, while discussing things to keep in mind when taking a study back into the studio to make a completed work for the gallery. Beginners to advanced students are welcome as Michelle will work one-on-one with each student to help them achieve their next level in painting and give students  specific guidance to meet their individual artistic goals. \nMonday – Thursday\, February 19 – 22\, 2024\n9:00 am –4:00 pm\nMinimum of 8 students\, Maximum of 16 students\nFEE:  $750.00 for Booth Museum Members\, $825.00 for not-yet-members \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:5-Day  Indoor Oil Landscape Workshop with Artist Jill Carver / “Aesthetic Tools for Landscape Design” \nJill will discuss concepts and techniques aimed to resolve and strengthen motifs and improve overall design\, from initial ‘thought boards’ to actual preparation techniques.
