Using these tools\, we will focus on producing paintings that help move a viewer’s eye. By working with intention with these tools\, we can influence how a viewer “feels” about our painting. Please bring photo references that you personally have taken\, with an emphasis on light and shadow patterns. DESCRIPTION:3-Day Workshop with Artist Karen Weihs / “Self-Expression – Palette Knife Realism”\nFriday – Sunday\, October 4-6\, 2024\, 9:00 am –4:00 pm \nUsing Cobra Oils (water mixable) with many tools\, students will take a cityscape or landscape towards abstraction. Bring your various brands of oils and try my Cobras with them. Learn various techniques on how to manipulate palette knifes and make a great variety of marks with brushes and knives. Each morning there will be demos and in the afternoon I will spend time with each student helping them through the process. DESCRIPTION:BAA 3-Day Workshop with Artist Michele Byrne / “Palette Knife Techniques in Oils”\nWednesday – Friday\, October 9-11\, 2024 9:00 am –4:00 pm\n\nEveryone has a palette knife in their toolbox\, but do you know how to use it? In this class I’ll teach you how! There are various ways to hold and use a knife to produce different effects and it can all be accomplished with one or two knives. You will learn new ways to create drama with thick juicy paint.  I’ll also walk you through my design process\, from my value study/thrust map to final composition\, explaining my thought process along the way\, This is a great class if you are not comfortable with a knife and want to learn how to use it for limited areas of your piece such as buildings and telephone poles and wires. Or you can use it for the whole piece.  Please bring 4 to 5 photos of your own and I’ll help you create a great composition with a value study. Then you will move on to create a new painting full of life\, drama\, and movement.  I will also cover a day on adding figures to create a story.
