Join Seth Hopkins as he interviews John Fawcett about his art journey on Booth Museum’s Facebook page. Fawcett started out painting mainly in watercolor but has introduced oils to his repertoire.   Since taking the leap of faith to become an artist, he has been invited to participate in some of the most prestigious Western art shows in the country and has developed relationships with the top galleries.

Join Seth Hopkins as he interviews Denise about her inspiring art career on Booth Museum’s Facebook page.  Mahlke has gained national recognition for her pastel paintings, which have been featured in Western Art & Architecture, Southwest Art, Plein Air and Pastel Journal. She has been twice honored as winner of the First Place award in Landscape with the Art Renewal Center’s International Salon. In 2013, she was awarded the Gold Medal for works on paper and Best of Show award at the Phoenix Art Museum’s West Select show.

11.19.2020 Evening Lecture with artist Seth Haverkamp
Haverkamp has studied with internationally-known artists Nelson Shanks and Robert Liberace.  Known for his unique still-lifes and portraits, he derives his primary inspiration from the beauty of color and form and the drama of light and dark.  While Seth has done countless commissioned portraits, his favorite subjects are his wife and children who always take him to new heights of creativity.

Seth Hopkins interviews artist Mikel Donahue. Donahue is an award winning member of the Cowboy Artists of America on Booth Museum’s Facebook page. Fascinated by life on the ranch and the iconic art of masters such as Charlie Russell and Frederic Remington, Mikel has become a perfect amalgam of his childhood influences with a life of breeding quarter horses with his wife Christine on their property outside Broken Arrow and an award-winning art career.

Woodard will discuss his transformation from world champion wooden bird carver to one of the most innovative sculptors in the contemporary Western genre.

11.09.2020 Western Art Symposium Session Three – Indians and Cowboys Redifined with artist Duke Beardsley
Beardsley will discuss the inspiration and techniques he uses for his innovative depictions of Cowboys and other Western icons in a decidedly contemporary style. 

11.06.2020 Western Art Symposium Session Two Panel Discussion – Elaine Horwitch Stories with curator Julie Sasse, art critic/writer Lisa Wade and artist Tom Palmore
Julie worked for Elaine in her gallery business for 15 years, Lisa was an arts writer during that period and was married to artist Bob “Daddy-O” Wade and Elaine represented Tom for many years. All three have enlightening and entertaining stories to share.

Trautmann will summarize research related to contemporary Native American women artists she is conducting in advance of an exhibition she will curate involving the work of these top three top women artists.

Join Booth’s Historian Jim Dunham will present his research related to the life and times of the noted Apache Indian Chief Geronimo. Dunham will provide a detailed biography using historic photographs and artwork in the Booth Museum collection to illustrate the story, including an iconic portrait of Geronimo by Andy Warhol.
