Marty Stuart Photography Lecture

Booth Museum is celebrating 15 years with Marty Stuart! Regarded as a veteran of the country music industry, Marty Stuart is much more that a master musician; he is a producer, writer, historian, collector, curator, and photographer. In fact, the Mississippi native has been taking photographs nearly as long as he has played guitar. On July 7, Booth Museum will open a new exhibition in the Picturing America Gallery, American Ballads: The Photographs of Marty Stuart. Organized by the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, TN, this exhibition features Stuart’s documentary photography of American culture through country music singers and songwriters, rockabilly writers and performers, and the Lakota Tribe of North Dakota. In conjunction with the exhibition opening and the Museum’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, Stuart will participate in a lecture based on his photography at 1:30 pm in the Booth Ballroom.

3-Day Workshop with Pat Fiorello

This 3 day workshop will help you approach painting flowers in oil directly with a loose, fresh, impressionistic approach. There will be demonstrations, instruction, critique and guidance while you paint. You will learn approaches to understand and simplify flower shapes, depict form and depth through observations of light and shadow patterns, and mix clean, vibrant color. On day one you will work from a photo provided by the instructor  to understand the basic technique. Days 2 and 3 will find you working from your own fresh flower set-ups.
