HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BOOTH!

Celebrating in Presidential Style
The Booth's Birthday Party

Be a part of history and join the celebration!

Saturday, August 22, 2009
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Booth celebrates six years in Presidential style with a special tribute to President Abe Lincoln’s 200th birthday. What better way to celebrate the Booth’s birthday than with our members and friends. See below for a list of entertainment everyone will enjoy.

Meet the Presidents: The Booth has invited two legendary guests for this years’ festivity. Relive President Lincoln’s legacy with a special appearance by costumed re-enactors, Abe Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln.  Both actors will be on stage for multiple performances in the Theatre and several other favorite Presidents will also perform throughout the galleries.

From the Log Cabin to the White House: Homer S. Sewell III, is a man who looks so much like Abraham Lincoln, that even without his top hat and coat, total strangers still call him Abe! This special performance brings an entertaining look into the life and times of our 16th President.  As “Abe”, Homer will take you back into history with amusing true stories about his life, from the log cabin to the White House.  This realistic storytelling is in the great American tradition which helps bring history to life.  The show will entertain and delight you, bringing to life the courage and determination which has shaped our nation.  Homer’s performances have received great reviews from audiences all over America!

Activities for Everyone: This is the perfect opportunity to get your picture taken with you favorite President.  Abe Lincoln, Mary Todd and other re-enactors will be available for photos in a designated location. Continuous entertainment will be also be showcased in the Theatre. Outside don’t miss out on chuck wagon demonstrations and wagon rides for children of all ages.  You’ll also have the opportunity to preview the newly remodeled 1869 Courthouse, soon to become the home of the Bartow History Museum. At noon we will unveil a new 13 by 20 foot painting by the Atlanta artist Rossin, featuring full length portraits of all the 20th century Presidents in A Meeting in Time.

Abe Lincoln Art Projects: Children will have the opportunity to learn about President Lincoln and create log cabins similar to Lincoln’s before moving to the White House and cut-out paper dolls that can be dressed in any fashion.

Hotdogs and cupcakes provided free in the Café for Booth Museum members. This event is open to the public. Regular admission charges apply.

Sponsorships available. Please contact the Development Department at 770-387-1538 for more information.
