If you are looking for a fun and educational outing for your daycare group, church group, scout group or other youth group this summer, plan a trip to the Booth Western Art Museum and sign up for the Horses: Warriors and Hunters program.
Explore the Booth Western Art Museum and discover how the horse brought about change to the Plains Indians culture. Owning horses enabled Plains Indians to continue their hunter-gatherer lifestyle while providing them with new ways to practice traditional activities. Through the wonderful world of art children will see how the horse, like its master, was both a warrior and a hunter and was greatly respected and admired. Through games and an art activity, participants will learn to identify common Native American symbols used to honor the horse and reproduce and create symbols of their own.
